Interactive Web App for Montessori-Inspired Music Education
Interactive Web App for Montessori-Inspired Music Education
This project is a custom-developed web application designed to bring Montessori-inspired music activities into the digital world. The goal was to create an engaging and educational online environment where children can interact with musical games that encourage movement, listening skills, coordination, and creativity.
The app reimagines classic Montessori music materials in an intuitive, web-based format. Children can participate in guided exercises such as moving in rhythm to different musical patterns (march, gallop, waltz), navigating space through movement-based tasks, and engaging in small choreographies—individually or in groups. These activities, traditionally carried out in physical classrooms, are now accessible online thanks to a carefully crafted user experience tailored for young users.
From a development standpoint, the project involved the design and implementation of a fully responsive front-end using modern web technologies. Special attention was given to accessibility, minimalism, and clarity, ensuring that both children and educators can use the app without barriers. The interface is animated and sound-integrated to make interactions more immersive and stimulating, while maintaining the pedagogical integrity of the original activities.
The project was developed in collaboration with the Montessori institute of the Riccardo Massa school complex in Milan, ensuring educational accuracy and alignment with Montessori principles. It was officially presented at DIDACTA, Italy’s leading education fair, held in Florence—where it received enthusiastic feedback from educators and professionals in the field of digital education.
The application architecture is modular, allowing educators to activate or deactivate specific games based on their lesson plans. This makes it a flexible tool for both in-person and remote learning contexts. The final result is a clean, user-friendly educational platform that supports music learning through play, movement, and interaction—fully aligned with child-centered learning approaches.
